All of the footage in this short was shot on a 16:9 aspect ratio, after that we converted it to a 4:3 aspect ratio in order to emulate the "telenovela" aesthetic.
Most of the footage were correct but a couple of shots had over and under exposure problems, the main issue besides the visual effects was the shot balance.
Iv'e had to paint all over the overexposed areas, the result was better than i expected as the scan-lines hid a lot of the imperfections.
This shot was presented in a normal 16:9 aspect ratio
Final look, This took a lot a of trial and error, I'm no vfx artist, so my knowledge of these kind of effects is very limited, we used a scanline effect coupled with some vignette and a matte in order to create this analog TV effect.
We've had 2 universes, the TV one and the normal night one, each one with their own treatment.
